Remembering Cali

Thursday: Laundry Day! During the rinse cylce, I'm looking through some files on my computer. I came across this picture. It was taken in San Carlos, CA.

We (the 3 children I nannied at the time) had just spent several hours at Laurel Street Arts. The kids and I had a blast painting our own pottery. We went for a walk down the street when I noticed the sign. It made me so homesick, thinking of my entire family who happen to call me Jin. Anyway, two seconds later, Jack falls in his, 'way to big' cowboy boots, because he was chasing seagulls through the courtyard; the baby's climbing out of her stroller; and Emma, the oldest, is still upset we didn't get to take our pottery with us.

On a deeper note; outfits are like times in our life. One doesn't work so we try on another. There are so many stresses related to working for a high profile family. When it was time for me to go, it was time. I'm glad all of us have a deeper appreciation for each other. I'm missing them so much.

With the end of my nanny career approaching soon. I'm so blessed to go out with such a light load. God 's favor is on me and I can't help but feel extremely grateful for all he's taught me.

That day at Jin's Cleaners seems like yesterday; but today, like most days, I miss those kids! I hope to visit them soon. In the mean time, I guess I better go check my laundry.

the face of super stardom

to early

It's Thursday, blah. I'm tired and went to bed with a migraine last night.
This morning as I'm telling myself I really need to get up for work, I hear a strange noise outside.
It sounded like a snow plow, could it be......snow finally? It was just a little that we got over night, but I get to look at it from my window at work all day. It's nice don't you think?

A day in the life

So today, as Tommy and I played the day away, my heart began to swell with such joy.
I'm so thrilled to be his nanny.
No really, he's just over a year now, and he's changing and growing and learning so many fun things right now.

He's found his voice, his chatter I should say. He points at things and then jibber- jabbers about it. The cutest part is, after he tells his story, he laughs with such a belly laugh.
He cracks himself up.

Oh boy a baby that know's he's a riot.

This position has been such a blessing; only working 3 days a week and working for a family who is so normal. All good things must come to an end. Tonight, they told me baby #2 is going to be here in July. So, my last day, and last nanny job, as I'm retiring :) will be in July/Aug.

When I was a little girl, I use to love cooking in the kitchen. No one in the family would eat anything I made. My recipes, my creations. For a while my brother would try it, but when I started putting baking soda in things, he deciding being a tester wasn't working for him.

My little neighbor girl came over to hang out with me. Her mother is having a big party tonight, so I thought I would help her by watching Tahaira.

Tahaira brought over one of her friends. Destiny is 5 and she is so so cute. We had a great time together. They drank hot chocolate while I did the dishes. And we played a game we made up called, 'secret dance word'. You have to dance if you say the secret word. Destiny drew this beautiful piece for me.

We were loud, we laughed, and we walked down to the coffee shop for a game of checkers. When we came back an amazing thing happened. They decided they need 'stuff' from my kitchen. What kind of stuff do you need, I asked.Tahaira responded, 'you know, just stuff, anything, well watcha got'? After she felt comfortable finding what she needed, they had created: Marshmallow-coconut-sprinkle-baking soda-margarita salt divines! Destiny tried them, her lips, teeth, and tongue turned blue from the colored sprinkles and she spit the marshmallow in my direction. Somethings never change, baking soda still doesn't work when playing kitchen.
